Happy Wednesday All!👋
Welcome to a Devotional Wednesday!
Lets get into this weeks' theme already 👉
I hope you learn something in this week's theme and be encouraged in your hard times. 🙌
The Key scripture for “Why Trials and Temptations” will be James 1: 2-8.
In essence, James 1:2-8 talks about the trying of our faith and the result of it. It also talks about why we should avoid doubt.
Reference scriptures or as I like to call them, connecting verses will be Romans 12:2, Ephesians 4 and Galatians 6:7-9.
Let’s get into it!!
We all go through hard times and face challenges in life; these moments we go through in life are called trials and also sometimes temptations. Trials and Temptations are struggles we go through in life that are meant to strengthen our faith. It puts our faith to test to ask the question “ What do you do”?. This happens by bringing us to understand better what the will of God is and to do it. God says that trials and temptations perfect our faith, it makes it better and stronger. When we become stronger in faith by understanding what God expects us to do during these hard and challenging times we come to trust him more and more. As our faith grows and we trust God more we come to know his will and are able to do it more faithfully. Romans 12: 2 tells us we must renew our minds in other to know the will of God: what is right and just to do. Our faith is a process that involves change and growth which comes about through these life experiences and wining in those experiences because we do what God wants us to do at those moments. How do we renew our minds or even know God’s will?, His word is the answer!. We must abide in God’s words and pray to him to know what to do. God takes us through these difficult moments of life so we will look to him and draw to him and all of it makes us to trust him more. God calls us to be changed people; in Ephesians 4: 22-23 we see this particularly. He says in Ephesians 4:22-23 to leave our old life style of sin and become new in a holy and righteous living with our mind being the starting ground. In understanding the will of God through trials and temptations we come to grow in wisdom; this wisdom enables us to begin to make right decisions in life and know what exactly to do in those difficult moments of life.
Now James 1:2-8 also says that God can help us by giving us wisdom to know what to do during our Trials and Temptations. If you are not trusting God you will doubt, and how can God bless that person when they don’t even trust or believe him enough. Therefore we must remember what Hebrews 11: 6 says; it is impossible to please God without faith. Faith means to trust and believe God. When someone is doubting God they are not showing faith because they do not believe enough. They don’t know the will of God to do it because their heart is not completely trusting God and is not abiding faithfully in his word. To do the will of God is hard for them because they lack the wisdom to do so. When we feel afraid or began to question we should remember God’s promises, his words, particularly that of Philippians 4:6, which says, be anxious about nothing, but in prayer and thanksgiving, let your request be known unto God.
Application to Life: Make time to Study the word and Pray to understand it. Pray for wisdom and abide in the Holy Spirit.
Prayer: Dear God teach me to trust you more, to understand and believe your word more. Teach me dear Lord to know your will and to do life your way. In Jesus Name. Amen.
