Hello All!
Welcome to another Devotional Wednesday!
Let's get to it!
The months’ theme is...
What I am is of God’s Power
SCRIPTURE: Key Verses---> 1 Corinthians 3 and 4
Connecting verses---> Ephesians 2:10 and 1 Corinthians 6:18
OBSERVATION: The life we live as Christians (Ephesians 2:10) and what we offer to God or do for him is our workmanship to him. The work we do in our life of faith will be tested by trials, temptation and persecutions ( 1 Corinthians 3 vs 13, 14, 15). The testing of how we live our lives and what we give to God is to judge how much we really love him. We are not the owners of ourselves, everything we are belongs to God and is to glorify him; even our bodies ( 1 Corinthians 6:18).
God gives power to become who we are to him and it is only by his grace and mercy that we overcome and endure the test he allows our way. Without spiritual scrutiny or testing, our faith will not grow and it will not be known how much we love God. Our ultimate judge is God, because he rewards all accordingly as he is the only one that knows the secret things of man. Christians are rewarded on earth and in heaven for their Godly works and living and this is why refining must happen through fire of testing. Our christian life is built on the faithful works of others and centrally on the life of Jesus Christ. As believers of Christ, God wants us to and does use us; the commandment of love holds to the end of our lives. The purpose of our faith is to reach others for God by our speaking of Jesus and his work.
(1 Corinthians 4:14-17). This is why St. Paul gives his own Christian life as an example through his teachings of Christ and admonitions of righteous living. Children of God need fathers or spiritual leaders who care for their growth. Suffering, which is trials, temptations and persecution is necessary as children of God so that we are made worthy of our calling
( 1 Corinthians 4:9-13).
APPLICATION TO LIFE: Your whole life, day to day is full of tests. Over the years, I have learned that to pass the tests of life God brings to his children, you need the Holy Spirit and a tenderness of Heart to listen. So I am learning how to listen to the Holy Spirit against my own fleshly desire. This is not just about choices you make but also to endure difficult situations and to patiently wait on God for a blessing or promise. Tests of our faith are also evident in not giving up in life
PRAYER: Oh God, give me strength by the Holy Spirit to pass and overcome my tests of faith. In Jesus name, Amen.
