Acts 8: 15-23 and 26- 39
Observation: What this scripture most importantly tells us is that God is for all and for anyone. The power of God’s mercy and grace is so great to deliver even the worst sinner, by his word and the message of Christ Jesus.
The city of Samaria was in great deception by one man called Simon the Sorcerer; they were lost and didn’t know Jesus’ news. When Philp a disciple of Chris started preaching Christ to the Samarians, they repented. The story of Jesus eventually touched the deceiver in that city Simon the sorcerer and he believed and got baptized. An erroneous perception or understanding that still happen even today among false prophets, teachers, or man/woman of God; is that the gift of God can be brought with money. The truth is that God’s gift of Holy Ghost power is truly free. This is clearly seen in the comparison of 2 characters told in Acts 8.
Simon the sorcerer versus the Ethiopian eunuch. The hearts and intentions of the 2 were different. Simeon, the sorcerer after being saved and baptized now wanted power. (not in sincerity or pureness of heart but for his profit and own glory). Unlike Simeon, the sorcerer, the Ethiopian eunuch after being baptized and being saved went on rejoicing. He purely wanted to know more about Jesus Christ, and he was filled with Joy.
Also as a believer, the Holy Spirit is very much a must, in order to do the evangelism work of God because he gives direction and even the words to speak. It was the Holy Ghost that directed Philip to 1st go the way he went, second to approach the Ethiopian eunuch, third to speak and preach Jesus Christ to him.
Application to Life: I need to and must pray for the Holy Spirit to fill me and guide me to speak about Jesus to others. Also, I need to pray for the Holy Spirit of discernment because many false men and women of God exist now. All believers must seek to have and move in the Holy Spirit because of the end times coming upon us.
Prayer: Oh God, Abba Father bless me with more of your Holy Spirit, So that I can do your work, in Jesus name, Amen.
