Salvation only by the Holy Spirit

Scripture: Acts 1 and 2 (2 Corinthians 5 vs 20-21)

Observation: By definition, evangelism is... “the winning or revival of personal commitment to Christ” (Merriam-Webster).

Acts 1 and 2 reveals the necessity of the Holy Spirit in doing the work of God as a believer in his Kingdom. Christ had promised the apostle that he would make them fishers of men; so speaking  God speaks to us too. When Jesus was alive, the presence of God was with the apostles. However when Jesus in the flesh left them, then the Holy Spirit came to be with them; still the presence of God remains with them. Therefore we as believers need the presence of God in us,around us, with us to be able to do the work he has called us to (John 14:12).

Matthew 28vs19 speaks on God’s unction to evangelize. Go therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost gave the disciples utterance to speak. Speaking in tongues is an evidence of having the Holy spirit.  When the disciples received power from the Holy Ghost they received boldness to do what Jesus had told them shortly before he left them and went up to heaven.  They boldly preached the news or story of Jesus to those that witnessed the speaking of tongues. Because they were not speaking by human understanding, but with authority of the Holy Spirit power followed, to the conversion and salvation of many souls to God that time. And in that time in Jerusalem people witnessed  the power of the Holy Ghost  by the wonders and signs done by the apostles (Acts 2:43). Through the manifestations of the Holy Ghost  many souls continued to be won in that time of the early church.

Application to Life: How to know if you have the Holy spirit or  is walking and manifesting in him are the following...

  1. Do  you believe in Jesus?

  2. Are you exhibiting or living by the fruits of the Holy Spirit? (Galatians 5:22)

  3. Are you cultivating or working in your gift of the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 4:11, 2 Corinthians 12: 8-11, Romans 12)

Prayer: Dear God bless me to grow in your Holy Spirit. Bless me God to know and walk in the fruits and gift of the Holy Spirit. In Jesus name.
