Hey all!
Welcome to another Devotional Wednesday
The theme is.... “Overcoming”
Let’s get to it!
SCRIPTURE: 1st Corinthians 10:1-13 and 31-33
OBSERVATION: In the book of 1st Corinthians 10, St. Paul warns us that we must not follow the examples of the Israelite of old, who derailed from the righteous path. The types of immoral and sinful acts taken by the Israelite right after deliverance from Egypt were; Idolatry, Immorality and Murmuring. These sinful acts are in rebellion against God out of lack of faith. Therefore if a Christian says they have faith, then they must examine themselves and be faithful not to stumble. Trials and temptations come to test our faith to see how much we really love God. ( 1st Corinthians 10:13). In fighting to be faithful and overcome sin you must not fear to love others in order to gain them to Christ. This is exemplified by the loving act of hospitality through food (1 Corinthians 10 vs 31-33).
APPLICATION to LIFE: Each day I see an opportunity to grow in faith, because mercy says you can start over and do better. Sin can not continue in me as a child of God therefore I aspire for righteousness more and more each day as the power of sin loses its hold.
PRAYER: God of mercy and grace, grant me strength by your Holy Spirit to overcome the weight of sin in my life. In Jesus Name, Amen.
