Scripture: Acts 19:1 to 22
Observation: Paul’s ministry continues in the book of Acts 19. This chapter of Acts is so full of worthy lessons of our Christian faith. 3 Themes I will be discussing are presented in Acts 19.
The Baptism of the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is a necessity for all believers. The holy spirit is promised when one becomes saved. Jesus says to wait till the Holy Ghost comes with power ( Act 1:8 ). When the Holy Spirit comes upon a believer they become empowered (Acts 19:6-7). Spending time in God’s presence with the Holy Spirit builds faith so you can do the work of God (Acts 19 vs 8 to 10).
Faith Items or Blessed Items of Anointing
There is power behind faith items and Blessed items that are anointed because of faith and Holy Spirit anointing working behind it (Act 19: 11-12).
You Must Know the God You Serve Well to Use His Name
No one can truly do the work of God, without the Holy Spirit. It is dangerous to death to do anything in the name of Jesus without the Holy Spirit leading you or truly knowing/relating to God. The Lord’s name and God’s name must not be taken in vain (Exodus 20:7), Acts 19:13-16 records 7 Jewish sons of a Chief Priest; casting out devils in the Lord’s name (They didn’t believe) as Paul did (for their own glory): However the demons spoke to them saying “Jesus I know and and Paul I know but , who are you (Acts 19:15) . These devils beat the 7 Jewish sons out to nakedness and injury.
Applications to Life: Connecting to a ministry or a church is important in the Spiritual growth of a believer of Christ because it deepens their knowing of God’s Character and will. Having the Holy Spirit helps us to seek and desire God more and be able to do his will and working and doing anything for God requires us to have a powerful confidence through the Holy Spirit , abiding in holiness and means NO FEAR WITH GOD.
Prayer: Dear God, Abba, Father fill me with the Spirit of boldness to move without fear doing your will. In Jesus Name. Amen.
