God's Calling on His Children

Welcome All! 👋

It’s another Devotional Wednesday!

Our topic is God’s Calling on His Children!

Scripture: 1 John 3:4-6, 9-10, 18-19 and 24

Connecting Verses: Proverbs 22 vs 6 and Proverbs 28 vs 27

In 1st John 3, we observe two ideas on the topic of being a child of God.

Observation: What shows I'm a child of God?

This scripture in 1st John 3: 1 to 10, Beautifully explains what it means to be God's child. It breaks down the lifelong process of perfecting ourselves even when we're not perfect (1 John 3:3). When we accept Jesus into our lives, he takes away our sins and renews us, rebirths us in him. So from salvation in Christ we grow in faith because of his Holy Spirit (1 John 3:24). Sin is of the devil, so we come to sin less and less as God child. If we love God, we will be like him, as his child obeying his word not to be sin but to be righteous.

What is the essence or key understanding of God’s command of love to each other?

How do we do this command of love?

Do you ever wonder, why God's commandment of love is so important or so pronounced to his children. Well, it is because love is who God is and he wants us to be like him, abiding in his truth and being people of truth; as Jesus came to die and resurrect for all and therefore God proving his love for us. If we love others, we are guiltless of this commandment and can boldly approach God. Love is not only by feelings or words, but by Action. Give, Do, Speak, Love and Truth.

Application to Life: As a child of God, I'm grown each day because by intention I choose to renew myself according to God's will. Increasingly as a believer our faith must grow stronger, we must mature as Christians so that we can help each other. As we study the word more, pray and fast more, our dislike for sin and sinful things increases and we desire more to be like Christ. We desire to do what is right before others, live peacefully with them and give of ourselves. I know am God’s child because I increasingly seek him even when I fall. I still seek him knowing that he is always available because of his mercy and grace.

Prayer: Dear God, Let the power of your Holy Spirit in me empower me to live and cont. to live a changed life and be a new me. In Jesus name. Amen
