Encouraged in The Face of Adversity

Greetings All!

Welcome to another Devotional Wednesday!

Continuing in the book of Acts, the ministry of St. Paul and St. Barnabas

SCRIPTURE: Acts 13: 48 to 52 and Acts 14

OBSERVATION: The Calling of God and work of God is not for the weak minded or the faithless. The believer and doer of God’s will must first believe,  have faith in God for everything and be continually encouraged to do God’s work. I say this because as Christians we don’t align with the crowd or with what is popular. St.Paul teaches in Acts 14 vs 22 speaks, “ We must go through many Hardships to enter the Kingdom of God”. Child of God never accepts comfort or complacency  about life because  the devil and the evil of life is always waiting for a victim.  St. Paul and St. Barnabas went off evangelizing in present day  Greece and Turkey (Cyprus and associated city states, also Antioch). And encountered the Jealousy of the Jewish leaders and elders there, persecutions like stoning, accusations, imprisonment. As Children of God we must remain faithful and constant in prayer and fasting , so that we may be encouraged by the Holy spirit to continue  the work of God. When Gentiles/Unbelievers see miracles, wonders, and signs they come to believe with this the Joy of the Lord Strengthens his children to continue.

APPLICATION TO LIFE: I always remember the word of God in 1st Peter 5:8, 9 to 10 -  “ To be alert and vigilant spiritually because the devil is always looking to destroy. I have learned by keying  into ministry and prayer to daily resist the devil. We are like watchmen as believers. God has to become your daily activity and hourly interest because life as Christians in these days requires it.

PRAYER: Oh God, heavenly father, strengthen me your child by your holy spirit in Joy to continue doing your will and desire more of you. Oh God make me a vessel of honor to participate in doing your work. In Jesus Name Amen.
