💖✨The Character of Love: A command of the Father – 💖✨

Lets Get Into It!!! 🌟

Our reference scripture will be ....

1 John 4: 7-21

Focusing on this scripture I will be discussing God’s command of love and why it's so important for us as his children to embody this character. Lookout for many verse to verse connections, as I like to call them.

So what is the evidence that we are of God? that we are his children? Well 1 John 4:8 Says that God is love, therefor if we are God’s children then we must be like him and have his character. Since God who loves us so much as his children has commanded us to love, anything out of that love or not in that love doesn’t show to be of God. This is also the evidence of even the Holy Spirit, as seen in 1 John 4:13. Now let’s look at Matthew 22: 36-40; God’s commandment to love comes in two, 1 to love God and 2 to Love others as yourself. Here we see that above every other commandments is these two which are simply to do the act of Love. When we abide in love we are being obedient and God continues to fill us more with love and he abides with us and empowers us to be able to love even the more; this is reflected in John 14: 21-24. There are two things that happens when we do this commandment. 1 we are being obedient to God by doing his word, and 2 we are trusting in him because it shows that we are sure of God’s ability to take care of us. When we don’t love or do the opposite, Hate, we become less than God’s children and act out of his character. As reflected in Matthew 25; 35-40 where Jesus says as you do to one of these, you do to me; loving others, indirectly shows love to God.

There are many scriptures on the commandment of love and the theme. One that I especially like is Colossians 3: 12-14 which shows how to love each other and identifies love as the key component of living peaceably with others.

Application: How is this practical and How is it relatable to my life.

Personally the scripture of 1 John 4: 17-18 related well with me. I use to have an anxiety of Hell and the end time. This scripture on love helped to reveal that I was not fully trusting God and I need more of his love and to trust him more. Because when we love God we also trust him knowing that there is nothing to fear or be anxious about.

Prayer: Dear Abba father, teach me the way of love, help me to trust you more and act more in love and less in fear. Amen!
