Lets get into to Today's Theme " Faith Key"🗝
We will be looking at a favorite scripture on Faith; Hebrews 11. Let’s take the scripture from Hebrews 11:1 - Now faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.
So Everyone, I know this is a memory scripture that is well known for its words on faith. Now I will share with you why it is so helpful in understanding faith; what God requires of us to serve him. In this scripture we see how faith has been working in the lives of God’s people, his servants and great men and women of the Gospel. So what is faith?.... my definition goes like this.
Faith is believing and trusting in God with everything (Hebrews 11:6). There are steps to this Faith thing and getting to understand these steps will help you grasp it. To do the will of God faith is necessary. In doing the will of God we obey him, by trusting and believing that he has things under control. Many men and women of God are great examples of faith, people such as: Abraham, Sarah, Abel, Noah, Joseph, Moses and even more like Deborah, Esther and Hannah. These and many more are stories of faith working. What should be understood is that these great men and women of God believed God for one thing or the other and obeyed him in one way or the other trusting that God is true.
Now, back to the steps of faith. I define faith this way; Faith is believing and trusting in God alone when we obey him. Faith is the opposite of these things: doubt, fear, worry and anxiety. Lets look to this reference scripture for a minute; Mark 4 :31-45. It tells us that when you have Jesus with you there is nothing to be afraid of because Christ is able to control any situation – we only need to trust he is able to and allow him to bring peace in it.
Application to life: So now that you know that faith is believing and trusting God when we obey him. So how do you have or build this faith in you? Well I have 3 sure ways to help you with this, according to scriptures.
- Read the word to know God’s will- Romans 12:2 and Romans 10:17
- Obey the Holy Spirit
- Pray, it builds your faith- Romans 12:12 and 1 Thessalonians 5:17
So we know we need faith to please God, which happens when we Obey him. And how do we obey God?, by knowing his will and being in his word.
